Lakeside Family Shoot

This little boy was such a joy to photograph, so much so that whilst I edited the pics I found myself wiping tears away. It may have had a little to do with the delight he showed being out in nature, it probably had a lot to with the fact that soon there was to be a baby sister! But mostly, I think, it was the fact that he reminded me of my son, Jacob. The way he paused the whole wide world for a mindful moment of thumb sucking only to then jump straight back into action, asking questions about acorns and railways and telling me that  "No, I have never practised balancing on a railway track - I am just really this good!" Then there were the hugs and the kisses that he so truly and plentifully gave to his Mum! I think it was this part of the edit that especially brought the tears to my eyes... it got me thinking about how quickly these children of ours grow... it got me thinking about how priceless these photographs are, then it made me a bit sad when I thought about how few natural pics of me and mine I have... but it did encourage me to say:

"Get those cameras out! Get those natural & candid pics taken! Get them printed! Hang them on your walls! Give your partner, your friends, your family a huge hint to do the same or book me and my camera and let's get out there!"
